Helena Frith Powell and Jemma Nicholls


Helena is an author, journalist and PR consultant with over 20 years’ experience in the media industry. She has been the editor of two fashion/ women’s magazines here in the UAE. Helena is always calm and collected, apart from when watching Chelsea FC.

Jemma, is a journalist, editor and writer with over 11 years’ media experience in the Middle East specialising in lifestyle publications. She has been beauty editor and deputy editor for two fashion/women’s magazines in the UAE. Jemma is one of life’s naturally very happy people, unless there’s no coffee left.


Leah Nicholls

Fashion and Style Editor

Leah has been a fashion designer in London for over seven years working with global and UK brands such as high-street giants Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Next and Marks & Spencer. Leah has an excellent insight into trends and key design influences garnered from her vast knowledge of the fashion industry and catwalk shows. Her regional editorial experience includes Style Editor for Masquerade magazine and various freelance projects for the National’s M magazine. Leah has been known to fly for seven hours in the wrong direction in search of the right piece of cloth


Farah Pirani

Staff Writer

Farah is a journalist and writer from England. She has worked for several publications in London including local papers and Asian Bride magazine. For the last eight years she has been living in Dubai. Farah likes to write about anything and everything, but her forte is fashion. From Valentino to Top Shop to thrift shops, her insider fashion knowledge is wide-ranging and always spot on. She is a styleopedia and fashionista rolled into one.


John Hiscock

Features Writer

A former foreign correspondent, John Hiscock worked in London, New York and Sydney, covering major news and sports stories on three continents before settling in Santa Monica, California. He has been writing about Hollywood and the entertainment industry since 2000. He has become an American citizen but remains very much an Englishman abroad.


Patty van Hellenberg Hubar and Lucy Mehta

Arts and Culture Editors

Patty van Hellenberg Hubar and Lucy Mehta run Huber Mehta Art, an Abu-Dhabi based independent art consultancy that sources the best contemporary art from the region as well as North America, Europe and China for private and institutional clients. Both Patty and Lucy have lived in the UAE for several years and are committed to promoting art and culture in the region.


Tamara Mahmoud

Arabic Translation

Tamara has been working in marketing and public relations for over 10 years. She has a degree in advertising design and is fluent in three languages. Her Arabic and magazine production knowledge is invaluable, as is her meticulous attention to detail.


Chris Burke


Satirical Illustrator/Caricaturist Chris Burke has worked for The Sunday Times, Radio Times, Punch, The Telegraph, The Economist, GQ, Vogue and the FT. He was named cartoonist of the Year 2000. Chris is included in The Dictionary of British Cartoonists 1730-1980 and Who's Who in Art. His work is in the permanent collections of the London Transport Museum and the V&A.


Dimitra Spiropoulos


Athens native Dimitra has had a varied career in the world of publishing. She has worked on fashion and lifestyle magazines as well as for advertising agencies, where she has contributed on various large accounts. Dimitra always has a positive outlook on life and is very sharing.... but not when it comes to her vast collection of scarves.


Poppy Sopitpongstorn


Hong Kong born, Thai fashionista Poppy has a B.A Hons in Fashion Design Technology from London College of Fashion and an MSc in Business Management from Imperial College Business School. Now based in London, her experience spans from the UK high street to the international luxury sector, working for global powerhouse designers such as Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen. With her finger always on the pulse, Poppy is never seen without her faithful red lippy and designer handbag, even when casually walking her two Rottweiler dogs.
